RESPONSES TO SUFFERING In their stories, both Alice Walker and James Baldwin go about the capitulum of internal and heathenish identicalness through habit of characters and those characters responses to their socially constructed identities. She does not see that her familys being uneducated is not a picking but it is rather imposed upon them becau se they are Afro-Americans.
